Missouri Job Center Hosts Inaugural Computer Science Education Week

In partnership with local tech companies, the Mid-America Technology Alliance, and local higher education institutions, the Missouri Job Center is hosting its first ever Hour of Code/Computer Science

Education Week December 3-7. During this week, numerous activities and workshops are planned to engage students and job seekers who are considering a career in the tech industry.

Workshops during the week will focus on navigating the vast world of tech employment opportunities, highlight viable long-term career pathways in the area, and provide a detailed look at the options and

benefits of online learning through the Hour of Code. The Hour of Code is a nationwide initiative to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and programming.

“The Hour of Code workshops offer open computer labs with Job Center staff ready to guide participants through engaging activities and show them just how easy coding can be,” said event organizer Cody Naeger, with the Missouri Job Center.

At the center of Computer Science Education Week is the third annual IT Roundtable on Wednesday, December 5, 7:30 am, at the Missouri Job Center, 2900 E. Sunshine. The IT Roundtable brings together dozens of tech sector companies and departments, training providers, economic development specialists, and more to have an open discussion on local workforce trends and challenges.
